So so so glad it’s Friday. I’m really on the struggle bus with switching over to eating healthy guys! But I’m taking baby steps, and I think this is how it’s gonna work for me. I like what Sarah said, that it’s better to eat a lot of healthy food rather than a lot of unhealthy food. I just like to eat a lot. :/ And like Katie said, when I get home from work, I really just want to eat and lay on the couch. I’m working on retraining my brain to create a different routine. It would be much more beneficial for me to workout when I get home, then have a good dinner, and go to bed early!
That brings me to another point. I also tend to go to bed really late. Like 11 at the very earliest, usually more like 12 or 1230. That only allows for 6 hours of sleep a night, and let’s face it, this girl needs a hell of a lot more beauty sleep than that. But seriously, it’s a cycle! Cuz then I’m tired when I get home and I want to lay around, but then I’m not tired for bed! Baby steps…
Here’s a baby step I’m pretty proud of. Sometimes if I don’t have any food in the house, I stop at Jewel on the way home from work. These occasional grocery trips are typically accompanied by a box of cheez-its or a bag of chips that are of course opened immediately upon getting back in the car. Well… I have no food at home today. So I made a stop at Jewel. Instead of the usual yummy junk food, I bought rice cakes, grapes, clementines, carrots, and snap peas! How did this happen?!?! This is so not like me!
One thing I have learned is that I CRAVE crunchy food, and also have flip-flop cravings between salty and sweet. Like if I eat something salty, I have to follow it up with sweet… IMMEDIATELY. So this typically means switching back and forth between crackers/chips and candy. Well today I decided to try something different, switching between a caramel corn rice cake (50 cal) and a white cheddar rice cake (45 cal)! By golly it worked!!! I opened them in the car and had a nice little healthy snack on the ride home that left my cravings satisfied! Kind of happy with myself.
I also ate 2 chocolate protein bars when I got home. Ugh. I’ll get there, eventually.
